Pentosan Polysulfate

Pentosan polysulfate is a semi-synthetic polysulfated xylan used most for the relief of Osteoarthritis

The mechanism of PPS action in osteoarthritis is multifactorial, with both stimulation of cartilage matrix synthesis and prevention of cartilage breakdown. There are also systemic effects on blood lipid and fibrinolysis that may help clear the subchondral circulation. This is mainly used for osteoarthritis and inflammatory related skeletal conditions.

The recommended dose is 2mg/kg via subcutaneous injection twice weekly for 6 weeks.

Common side effects include injection site redness, diarrhea, nausea, headache.

Pentosan polysulfate will not help people to lose weight.

It is not recommended that this product be taken by those who are pregnant or nursing without consulting with a medical professional first.

Pentosan Polysulfate poses no issues that would be sex dependent and has been shown to be successful in both men and women.

Pentosan Polysulfate does not exhibit any chemical properties that would require any kind of food or dietary restrictions while taking.

Injectable peptides should be stored in the refrigerator but are safe outside of refrigeration for up to 7 days.

As a 503A pharmacy, we require patient specific prescriptions for all items. As a prescribed medication each product is safe to travel with and should not be seized. All products are stable for up to 7 days outside of refrigeration but should be limited if possible during travel. Stability data also indicates that this medication is not damaged or compromised when exposed to x-rays during standard security checks.
